On the Average Character Degree of Finite Groups
We prove that if the average of the degrees of the irreducible characters of a finite group G is less than 16/5, then G is solvable. This solves a conjecture of I. M. Isaacs, M. Loukaki and the first author. We discuss related questions.
متن کاملThe Tensor Degree of a Pair of Finite Groups
In this paper, we study the tensor commutativity degree of pair of finite groups. Erdos introduced the relative commutativity degree and studied its properties. Then, Mr. Niroomand introduced the tensor relative commutativity degree, calculated tensor relative degree for some groups, and studied its properties. Also, he explained its relation with relative commutativity degree. In this paper, w...
متن کاملRATIONAL CHARACTER TABLE OF SOME FINITE GROUPS
The aim of this paper is to compute the rational character tables of the dicyclic group $T_{4n}$, the groups of order $pq$ and $pqr$. Some general properties of rational character tables are also considered into account. The aim of this paper is to compute the rational character tables of the dicyclic group $T_{4n}$, the groups of order $pq$ and $pqr$. متن کاملA characterization of the symmetric group of prime degree
Let $G$ be a finite group and $Gamma(G)$ the prime graph of $G$. Recently people have been using prime graphs to study simple groups. Naturally we pose a question: can we use prime graphs to study almost simple groups or non-simple groups? In this paper some results in this respect are obtained and as follows: $Gcong S_p$ if and only if $|G|=|S_p|$ and $Gamma(G)=Gamma(S_p)$, whe...
متن کاملA characterization of L3(4) by its character degree graph and order
Let G be a finite group. The character degree graph [Formula: see text] of G is the graph whose vertices are the prime divisors of character degrees of G and two vertices p and q are joined by an edge if pq divides the character degree of G. Let [Formula: see text] be the projective special linear group of degree n over a finite field of order q. Khosravi et. al. have shown that the simple grou...
